Report: Freeman looking for 6-year deal worth around $180M
Free-agent first baseman Freddie Freeman wants a six-year contract worth around $180 million, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
Freeman, who's spent his entire 12-year career with the Atlanta Braves, has hit 271 homers with 941 RBIs and a .893 OPS in 1,565 games. He's a five-time All-Star who owns multiple Silver Sluggers and a Gold Glove to go along with a World Series title.
The 32-year-old and Atlanta's front office have expressed a mutual desire to get a deal done. However, it's unclear where negotiations stand.
The New York Yankees reportedly met with Freeman's representatives during the offseason. Other clubs could be pursuing the slugger too:
Teams are trying to pry superstar 1B Freddie Freeman from Atlanta. Some say they still don’t think it will happen but r surprised he’s still free. Dodgers, who lost Seager and could move Muncy to 2B, may have best hope for SoCal product, NYY, TOR (h/t Carlos Baerga) reached out.
