The Miami Marlins and right-hander Sandy Alcantara have agreed to a five-year contract extension worth $56 million, sources told SportsGrid's Craig Mish.

The deal is pending a physical, Mish adds.

The five-year extension will now cover all three of Alcantara's arbitration-eligible seasons and delay his free agency by at least two campaigns. He was projected to have his first arbitration year this winter.

The 26-year-old pitched 205 2/3 innings over 33 starts this past season. He finished with a 3.19 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and 201 strikeouts alongside a 9-15 record.

Alcantara owns a career 3.49 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 431 strikeouts across 487 1/3 innings with the Marlins over the past four seasons. He was named an All-Star in 2019.

Miami also reportedly agreed to a four-year, $53-million deal with free-agent outfielder Avisail Garcia on Sunday.
