Impending free agent Marcus Semien has hired agent Scott Boras to represent him, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
Semien, who played for the Toronto Blue Jays this season, is poised to sign a lucrative multi-year contract after inking a one-year, $18-million deal last winter.
The 31-year-old hit 45 home runs with the Blue Jays, an MLB record for a second baseman. Semien was also nominated for a Gold Glove and could be an American League MVP finalist for the second time in three years.
Toronto does have some experience dealing with Boras in contract negotiations, as the club signed left-hander Hyun Jin Ryu to a four-year, $80-million pact in December 2019.
