The surging St. Louis Cardinals are getting a huge boost for their final playoff push.

Right-hander Jack Flaherty will come off the injured list and start the second game of Friday's doubleheader at Wrigley Field, Cardinals manager Mike Shildt revealed Wednesday, according to Katie Woo of The Athletic.

Flaherty, who's been sidelined for almost a month with a right shoulder strain, "looked good" while throwing to live batters this week, Shildt said Tuesday, according to Bally Sports Midwest. Still, Flaherty might not pitch as deep as normal during his return Friday.

The 25-year-old has been a solid starter for the Cardinals when healthy, posting a 3.08 ERA, 4.09 FIP, and 1.03 WHIP with 81 strikeouts and 24 walks across 14 starts this season. In addition to the shoulder issue, Flaherty also missed some time earlier this year with an oblique strain.

St. Louis enters play Wednesday in the second NL wild-card spot thanks to an ongoing 10-game winning streak.
