The San Diego Padres placed shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. on the 10-day injured list Saturday with left shoulder inflammation, one day after he partially dislocated his shoulder while sliding into third base.

Tatis underwent an MRI on Saturday. It's been recommended that he rest and be re-evaluated in 10 days' time, according to Dennis Lin of The Athletic. There's no full timetable for his return.

Shortly before Tatis landed on the IL, manager Jayce Tingler told reporters the star infielder was "more sore" from this subluxation compared to those he'd suffered previously, according to AJ Cassavell of MLB.com.

While the Padres don't believe this is necessarily a season-ending injury, Tingler said everything is on the table if his shoulder doesn't show improvement.

Tatis has battled shoulder issues throughout this season. In April, he missed time after separating his left shoulder, then hurt it again in June while playing defense.

The 22-year-old currently leads the National League in runs, homers, stolen bases, slugging percentage, and OPS.

In addition to losing Tatis, the Padres also placed right-hander Chris Paddack on the 10-day IL with a left oblique strain. Paddack's IL stint is retroactive to Wednesday.

San Diego recalled right-handers Miguel Diaz and Reiss Knehr from Triple-A El Paso, while outfielder Jake Marisnick, acquired from the Chicago Cubs ahead of Friday's trade deadline, was activated. Pitcher Nabil Crismatt was optioned to El Paso.
