The Texas Rangers traded outfielder Joey Gallo, left-hander Joely Rodriguez, and cash considerations to the New York Yankees for right-hander Glenn Otto and infielders Ezequiel Duran, Trevor Hauver, and Josh Smith, the team announced.

The Rangers are paying all of Gallo's ($2.3 million) and Rodriguez's ($1.03 million) remaining salaries for this season, reports the New York Post's Joel Sherman.

The trade originally included left-hander John King going to the Bronx, with outfielder Everson Pereira and right-hander Randy Vasquez heading to the Rangers. However, Pereira and Vasquez were removed from the deal, sources told Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News. Texas placed King on the injured list with a shoulder issue earlier this month.

Gallo, a two-time All-Star, has 25 home runs, 55 RBIs, and an .869 OPS over 95 games this season. He won his first Gold Glove in 2020 and is arbitration-eligible through the 2022 campaign.

Rodriguez, 29, owns a 2-5 record with a 5.05 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 76 2/3 career innings for the Rangers and Philadelphia Phillies.

Otto, Duran, Hauver, and Smith all immediately slot into the Rangers' top 30 prospects on MLB Pipeline, with Smith and Duran ranking No. 7 and No. 8, respectively.
