Reds place Castellanos on IL
The Cincinnati Reds placed All-Star outfielder Nick Castellanos on the 10-day injured list Friday with a right wrist injury, the team announced.
Castellanos was removed from a game on July 16 after he was hit in the hand/wrist area by Adrian Houser of the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Reds outfielder said he was diagnosed with a microfracture in his right wrist after undergoing a CT scan on Wednesday.
Castellanos has been one of the National League's most impactful players this season, authoring a .329/.383/.582 slash line with 18 homers, 29 doubles, and 59 RBIs in 86 games.
The Reds also placed left-hander Amir Garrett on the paternity list, recalled right-hander Vladimir Gutierrez and infielder Alejo Lopez from Triple-A, and released pitcher Jose De Leon.
