Rendon immediately collapsed to the ground in pain and was examined by Angels trainers on the field for several minutes before departing. X-rays on Rendon's left knee came back negative, and he's considered day-to-day with a knee contusion, according to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times.
Scott Schebler pinch hit for Rendon and completed his at-bat. Because the Angels were out of position players, Albert Pujols had to take over at third in the ninth inning. It was the 41-year-old's first appearance at the hot corner since 2019 and fourth in the last seven seasons.
Rendon, 30, is hitting .276/.348/.466 with two home runs and 11 RBIs in 15 games for L.A. this season.
