Bellinger has hairline fracture in leg, timetable for return unclear

Cody Bellinger will be out of the Los Angeles Dodgers' lineup for a little while longer.

The former National League MVP, who hasn't played since April 5, had a slight hairline fracture discovered in his left leg, manager Dave Roberts announced Friday.

The club placed Bellinger on the injured list last week with a calf contusion. After he "plateaued" while rehabbing the calf issue, another test was done which revealed the fracture, Roberts said, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.

A firm timetable for his recovery and return from the fracture is not yet known, but Roberts described it as "not a day-to-day thing," per Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times.

Bellinger suffered the initial calf injury during the Dodgers' fifth game of the season when Oakland Athletics reliever Reyman Guduan spiked the outfielder while he was trying to beat out an infield single.

The 25-year-old went 4-for-19 with two walks before landing on the IL.
