The Chicago Cubs are reuniting with right-hander Pedro Strop on a minor-league deal, a source told MLB.com's Jordan Bastian.
Strop's deal includes a spring training invite, and he'll earn $800,000 if he makes the club, according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale.
The 35-year-old ended the 2020 campaign with the Cubs after the Cincinnati Reds released him in September, but he never made it out of Chicago's alternate training site.
Strop made four appearances for the Reds in 2020 before being released, walking six batters in 2 1/3 innings.
The veteran right-hander was an effective member of the Cubs' bullpen from 2013 to 2019, authoring a 2.90 ERA and 10.3 strikeouts per nine innings in 411 outings.
Strop is the latest addition to Chicago, who reportedly added fellow reliever Brandon Workman on Wednesday.
The Cubs have also signed outfielders Joc Pederson and Jake Marisnick, pitchers Jake Arrieta and Trevor Williams, and catcher Austin Romine this offseason.
