Report: Arenado more likely to be traded than Betts or Lindor
Of the league's superstars who are being mentioned in offseason trade rumors, Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado is now more likely to be dealt than Mookie Betts of the Boston Red Sox or Francisco Lindor of the Cleveland Indians, multiple sources told MLB Network's Jon Morosi.
Arenado has been linked to the Texas Rangers, who've reportedly discussed the five-time All-Star with Colorado for the last month. Texas is apparently willing to take on the entire $234 million remaining on his contract through 2026.
The 28-year-old Arenado has also reportedly drawn interest from the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals following another MVP-caliber campaign, which included 41 home runs, 118 RBIs, and a seventh consecutive Gold Glove Award.
Meanwhile, Betts and Lindor have both been tied to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Red Sox outfielder is scheduled for free agency following the 2020 campaign and the Indians shortstop is set to hit the open market in 2022.
Despite all of the offseason rumors, the Red Sox aren't actively shopping Betts, according to a report in late December. Additionally, the idea of trading Lindor was recently shot down by Indians president Chris Antonetti, who said he expects the 26-year-old to be on the team's Opening Day roster.
