Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Jake Arrieta will not exercise his opt-out clause, reports MLB Network's Jon Heyman.
The 33-year-old could have opted out of the final season of his three-year, $75-million deal at the end of the campaign, which would have left $20 million on the table.
Arrieta started 24 games - his fewest since 2013 - for the Phillies this past season, recording a 4.64 ERA and 4.89 FIP across 135 2/3 innings. His 1.47 WHIP was his worst mark since his rookie campaign in 2010.
The 2015 National League Cy Young winner also dealt with injuries and had offseason surgery to remove bone spurs from his pitching elbow.
He's expected to be ready for spring training.
