The Washington Nationals made history Sunday, becoming the first National League team in 50 years to have three starters with 200-plus strikeouts, the team announced.
Patrick Corbin reached the 200-strikeout mark Sunday against the Miami Marlins to join teammates Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg.
Strasburg's 215 strikeouts this season lead the NL, Scherzer managed to sit down 200 hitters in just 22 starts this season, and Corbin reached 200 strikeouts for a second consecutive season.
Scherzer has thrown eight straight 200-plus strikeout campaigns, while Strasburg reached the milestone for the third time of his career.
The 1969 Houston Astros were the last NL team to have three pitchers strike out 200 hitters in a season, when the trio of Larry Dierker (232), Don Wilson (235), and Tom Griffin (200) accomplished the feat.
