Oakland Athletics manager Bob Melvin announced outfielder Khris Davis will be placed on the 10-day injured list, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Davis left Tuesday's game against the Cleveland Indians due to lingering effects of a left hip contusion suffered earlier this season. He grimaced after fouling a ball off, and Mark Canha eventually replaced him.

"It hasn't gotten worse, but it definitely hasn't gotten better, so it's the right move to hit the IL," Davis said postgame, according to The Associated Press. "It's basically pretty much the same since it happened. Every swing, I feel it. I think it's more of an oblique, but we'll see."

The 31-year-old slugger will undergo an MRI on Wednesday.

In 42 games this season, Davis is slashing .250/.320/.500 with 12 home runs and 29 RBIs.
