An ankle injury has ended Gio Gonzalez's season.
The Milwaukee Brewers removed the left-hander from their National League Championship Series roster on Wednesday, replacing him with right-hander Zach Davies, the team announced.
The move will make the 33-year-old Gonzalez ineligible for the World Series if the Brewers move on and defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Gonzalez was removed during the second inning of Game 4 on Tuesday after rolling his ankle while fielding a grounder near the mound.

The veteran was acquired from the Washington Nationals on Aug. 31. He pitched well for Milwaukee down the stretch, posting a 3-0 record with a 2.13 ERA in five starts.
He's made two postseason starts for the Brewers, allowing two earned runs in three innings.
Davies, 25, was just 2-7 with a 4.77 ERA in 13 starts for the Brewers during the regular season.
