Victor Martinez will play the last game of his career on Saturday.

The 39-year-old said that the second game of the Detroit Tigers' three-game weekend series against the Kansas City Royals will be his last, according to Evan Woodberry of MLive.

Martinez explained that he wanted his final at-bat to be in Detroit. He won't be in the lineup on Sunday, nor will he play on the team's final road trip, according to Chris McCosky of The Detroit News.

"I remember like yesterday when I came into the league and now I have two games to go," Martinez recalled. "I enjoyed every single moment. It goes by quick."

Martinez, a veteran of 16 big-league seasons, will end his career with 1,973 games played.

The five-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger owns a .295/.360/.455 career slash line to go along with 246 home runs and 1,178 RBIs.
