It looks like the Boston Red Sox are going to continue to have to wait for the return of Dustin Pedroia.
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said the 34-year-old second baseman, who has been struggling to return from inflammation in his surgically-repaired left knee, will head back to his home in Arizona to continue physical therapy, according to The Athletic's Jen McCaffrey.
There's no timetable for Pedroia's return, according to Cora, who expects the four-time All-Star to return this year, but not anytime soon.
Pedroia will do his rehab at the same place he rehabbed this past winter, where the team wants him to focus on strengthening the muscles supporting his knee, namely the glute, hamstring, and core.
The 2008 AL MVP has only appeared in three games this season after slotting into 105 contests last year.
Eduardo Nunez has played the majority of games at second for the Red Sox with Pedroia out of action.
