Rangers' Trevino hits Father's Day walk-off 1 week after becoming a dad

It's been quite a week for Texas Rangers catcher Jose Trevino.

Last Sunday, the 25-year-old became a father for the first time with the birth of his son, Josiah Cruz. On Friday, Trevino - the Rangers' No. 20 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline - made his big-league debut for the Rangers as a defensive replacement; he'd lace his first hit, a game-tying RBI single, the following afternoon.

And all that happened before he capped this week with a Father's Day he'll never forget. After entering Sunday's game in the ninth inning, Trevino played hero by lacing a two-RBI walk-off bloop single off Colorado Rockies closer Wade Davis that capped a four-run ninth-inning comeback and lifted the Rangers to a wild 13-12 victory.

Trevino quickly became emotional while speaking with the Rangers' television broadcast about his Father's Day heroics, paying tribute to both his newborn son and his own dad, who died several years ago.

Trevino, who was initially called up to cover for Robinson Chirinos while he was serving a one-game suspension, owns a .618 OPS in 45 games with Double-A Frisco this season.
