Twins' Sano accused of sexual assault by photographer
Minnesota Twins third baseman Miguel Sano has been accused of sexual assault by a woman on Twitter.
Betsy Bissen, a photographer who worked for several Minnesota outlets, including Twins Daily, accused Sano of assaulting her after a 2015 autograph session in a tweet posted Thursday.
After claiming that a now unemployed and married first base coach for the Twins hit on her often, Bissen wrote that Sano made a comment about noticing her during games while at the autograph session.
After the signing was over, Sano allegedly grabbed the wrist of Bissen and pulled her to what she was told would be a trip to an Apple store.
Sano and Bissen allegedly spent 30 minutes in the store before Sano decided to leave for a car that had pulled around to a back hallway door.
As the two neared the exit, Bissen alleges that Sano grabbed her by the wrist and tried to forcefully pull her through it. Bissen resisted, while also trying to evade several attempts from Sano to kiss her.
Sano apparently gave up after ten minutes before leaving.
Bissen claimed in a separate tweet that the Twins knew nothing about what had happened to her.
Former Twins player Trevor Plouffe and current Twins pitcher Trevor May reached out to express their sympathy to Bissen in her Twitter replies:
I’m so sorry about this. I understand why you didn’t, but I wish you would have come to me.

I'm sorry Betsy.

The Twins released a statement hours after the accusation was made.
