The Miami Marlins may have found the right return for Giancarlo Stanton from a player standpoint, but it's still going to come down to money.

A source told Jon Morosi of MLB.com that Miami would likely accept the San Francisco Giants' reported trade offer of second baseman Joe Panik, plus pitching prospect Tyler Beede and outfield prospect Chris Shaw for the reigning National League MVP - provided the Giants commit to paying at least $250 million of the $295 million owed to Stanton over the next 10 seasons.

This development comes one day after it was reported the Giants may be willing to take on all of the $295 million left on Stanton's record deal, which he inked with the Marlins prior to the 2015 season.

While Stanton has yet to agree to waive his no-trade clause and allow the Marlins to deal him to San Francisco, those involved in the talks told Morosi there's optimism Stanton will ultimately agree to join the Giants.

San Francisco, which posted the worst record in the National League last season, was previously said to have emerged as the favorites to land Stanton, though the St. Louis Cardinals and Stanton's hometown Los Angeles Dodgers are also believed to be in pursuit of the 28-year-old. The Dodgers were reported to still be Stanton's first choice earlier this week.

A report on Tuesday suggested the Marlins told Stanton they would trade away their other high-priced stars in order to shed payroll should he refuse to waive his no-trade clause.
