Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Chris Archer is enjoying his second All-Star Game appearance, but if he were to star on the gridiron, he wouldn't suit up for the sport's festivities.
Although Archer appears to be having a ball in Miami, he outlined why NFL players ought not to participate in the Pro Bowl, noting the grueling physical hazards that pro football entails.

"The risk for injury is much lower here in baseball. Those guys beat their brains in, 16, 17 weeks a year," Archer said Monday. "They beat their brains in 16, 17 weeks a year, and that one extra week just isn't worth it. Quite honestly, I don't blame them. I don't even think they should take the field. I think they should have a weekend, have a lot of fun, maybe have a competition but there's no point in them strapping on pads."
It's a fair point articulated by Archer, one that's been echoed by many analysts and players alike. In the meantime, Archer is likely going to kick back and relax during Monday's Home Run Derby.
