Red Sox's Carson Smith: Suffers setback
Smith (elbow) suffered a setback and has not pitched off a mound in two weeks, the Providence Journal's Tim Britton reports.
Analysis:
Smith was transferred to the 60-day DL earlier Thursday, and this offers some explanation as to why. He had been progressing with bullpen sessions, but clearly something has caused the Red Sox to take it slow with him. The 27-year-old is still long tossing, but he is not expected back for quite a while.
