Watch: Napoli's ground-rule double hops over 19-foot fence
MLB.com
Mike Napoli has cleared the fence a number of times in his career, but not like this.
In the first inning of Friday's game against the Cleveland Indians, with one out and runners on second and third, Detroit Tigers left fielder Justin Upton fell victim to a Napoli moonshot fly ball.
As Upton jogged in for the catch, he put his hands up, signaling he lost the ball in the air. It wound up bouncing on the warning track, but, luckily for him, went over the wall.
Here's the crazy part - the ball bounced over the left field fence, which is 19 feet high.
