Yankees' Sanchez mashes way into record books again
At this point, the New York Yankees will be wondering why they didn't promote Gary Sanchez sooner.
The talented young backstop continued his torrid play Friday against the Baltimore Orioles, sending a deep two-run shot into the seats in left field at Yankee Stadium off of reliever Vance Worley in the fifth inning.
Sanchez's 10th home run of the season cements another record for the rookie catcher, as he becomes just the third player in MLB history to hit 10 home runs in his first 22 career games, joining Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story - who did so earlier this year - and former Boston Red Sox first baseman George Scott in 1966.
