Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has suffered a Grade 2 muscle injury in his right hamstring, which will likely rule him out of Saturday's derby against Atletico Madrid and possibly El Clasico on Dec. 3.

"His recovery will continue to be assessed," read a club statement.

Los Blancos didn't indicate when Morata - who came on as a substitute in Spain's friendly Tuesday against England - picked up the problem.

The 24-year-old has struggled to nail down a spot in Zinedine Zidane's starting XI since returning to the Bernabeu over the summer.

But Madrid has a tremendous record when Morata gets on the scoresheet, recording wins in the 17 matches in which the Spain international has hit the back of the net.

Only Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo have scored more goals for the capital club this season.
