The club confirmed Wednesday that the two parties mutually agreed to part ways.
Before the official announcement, Ibrahimovic took to social media to end his Galaxy tenure in trademark style.
"We would like to thank Zlatan for his contributions to the LA Galaxy and Major League Soccer," Galaxy president Chris Klein said. "Since his arrival in 2018, Zlatan has positively influenced the sport of soccer in Los Angeles. We are grateful for his work ethic and passion.
"We thank Zlatan for his professionalism and immeasurable impact on the Los Angeles community and the soccer community in North America as a whole."
The Swedish striker has also been associated with a move to Napoli. Ibrahimovic's assertion that he's "quite keen to experience Napoli" was followed by approving quotes from club chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis, who said, "My desire would be to see (him) in our jersey."
