A return to Serie A for LA Galaxy star Zlatan Ibrahimovic might actually come to fruition.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed the Italian club is interested in acquiring Ibrahimovic, 38, but says the final decision belongs to the four-time Scudetto winner.

"I met him, not as a footballer, but as a normal person in Los Angeles because we shared the same hotel," De Laurentiis told local station TV Luna, according to ESPN FC.

"... On the pitch, he seems like one type of person, but really, he is completely different. My desire would be to see (him) in our jersey. It's more than just a suggestion, but it's up to him. It has been spoken about for a few months."

De Laurentiis' remarks come just days after Ibrahimovic said he was "quite keen to experience Napoli" after watching a documentary on club legend Diego Maradona.

Ibrahimovic's contract with the Galaxy expires in January. He still has some unfinished business in Major League Soccer, however, as he gears up for a crucial playoff encounter with city rivals Los Angeles FC.

The 2018 MLS Newcomer of the Year ended his second regular season with 29 goals in 28 matches.
