Sneijder latest injured Dutch to miss England friendly

Dutch international midfielder Wesley Sneijder will not be making the trip to Wembley Stadium for next week's friendly against England after suffering a hamstring injury during Friday's loss to France.

The Galatasaray veteran was forced off in the opening stanza of the 3-2 defeat in noticeable pain, becoming the latest member of Danny Blind's squad to succumb to injury.

Sneijder, 31, is the seventh Netherlands international originally picked for the two friendly matches to be sidelined with fitness concerns, joining fellow long-serving teammate Arjen Robben on the treatment table.

If it's any consolation for fans of the Oranje, the reigning World Cup third-place finishers have nothing to play for; a disappointing run during the Euro 2016 qualifiers means the continental giants will miss the tournament for the first time since 1980.
