Lassana Diarra has finally escaped from Russia, signing a contract with French outfit Olympique Marseille on Friday.
Diarra was last with Lokomotiv Moscow in the Russian league. He's been trying to leave the team since last August with the two parties locked in a contract dispute. Diarra said he had been fired from the club, making him a free agent, a claim the Russian outfit denied.
Diarra was reportedly close to a Premier League return, and West Ham United had been chasing his signature since February. But the former Chelsea, Arsenal, and Real Madrid midfielder opted to return home to France instead.

The team says he'll train with the squad for the first time at the Robert Louis-Dreyfus training center Monday.
