Nice will be hoping Dante hasn't yet peaked, after the south-coast Ligue 1 side signed the Brazilian defender from Wolfsburg on Monday.

The Cote d'Azur side announced the move with a statement on its website. Neither outfit officially revealed the terms of the deal, though reports suggest Dante has signed a three-year contract with the club.

After only a year with Wolfsburg, Dante, 32, will embark on a second foray in French football, having spent two years on the fringes of Lille's first team between 2004 and 2006. Assisting Dante with his reacclimation is Nice gaffer Lucien Favre, who was the 13-time capped Brazilian international's boss at Borussia Monchengladbach.

Dante used a promising spell with 'Gladbach to secure a high-profile move to Bayern Munich, where in four seasons, the angular defender paired three Bundesliga titles with two domestic cup wins and the 2012-13 Champions League.

Wolfsburg also released a statement announcing the move, pairing the notice with some kind words from sporting director Klaus Allofs.

"We would have liked to have seen Dante remain on as part of our squad, but we granted his wish to gain some further experience as a 32-year-old. He presented himself as an impeccable sportsman, who could always be relied upon, during his time at VfL Wolfsburg," Allofs offered.

Dante moves to Nice on the heels of a decent season with Wolfsburg, where the Salvador-born defender made 23 Bundesliga appearances while featuring in nine of the club's 10 Champions League matches during a surprising quarter-final run.
