Oscar Piastri will take Daniel Ricciardo's seat with McLaren by next season, a source told Nate Saunders of ESPN.
McLaren reportedly informed Ricciardo about the change following the Hungarian Grand Prix.
The two sides are trying to figure out a financial settlement as Ricciardo is under contract through 2023, according to Saunders.
Ricciardo, 33, finished eighth in the driver standings during his first season with McLaren in 2021 after leaving Renault, which is now named Alpine.
Meanwhile, McLaren and Piastri have reportedly signed a deal for the Formula 2 champion to join the team.
Piastri appeared destined to join Alpine as Fernando Alonso's replacement. However, the 21-year-old refuted the announcement Tuesday.
