Formula 1 released its 2027 calendar Wednesday, which features a 24-race slate with 10 sprint weekends, including one in Monaco.
Next season is slated to begin with a sprint weekend in Bahrain from March 12-14. The finale in Abu Dhabi from Dec. 10-12 will also include a sprint event. F1 has scheduled Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi in 2027 despite uncertainty in the Middle East.
Grands prix scheduled to host a sprint in 2027 are Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Canada, Monaco, Britain, Italy, Brazil, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi. The campaign will begin with sprint weekends in three of its first four race weekends and in three of the final four race weekends on the calendar.
Monaco will also host a sprint for the first time ever despite criticism in recent years about the race being processionary. However, this will allow for two qualifying sessions at the marquee event that has built a reputation for its one-lap shootouts.
The Portuguese and Turkish GPs also return in 2027. F1 has not raced in Portugal or Turkey since 2021.
The Dutch GP is absent from the calendar following the expiry of its contract in 2026. Barcelona is also not on the schedule, though the event will return in 2028.
F1's schedule also avoids a clash with the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race, which is scheduled for June 12-13, and the Nurburgring 24 Hours on May 29-30. Four-time world champion Max Verstappen participated in the Nurburgring 24 Hours last year, while McLaren CEO Zak Brown recently teased that reigning champion Lando Norris will drive in Le Mans in the future.
