Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal intimated Friday that Mata could start Sunday's Premier League match against Everton with Wayne Rooney out due to a red-card ban.

Van Gaal didn't flat out say that Mata would start, but he was the only player mentioned as possible replacements for the No. 10 role.
