Juan Mata: Expected to Start Sunday

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal intimated Friday that Mata could start Sunday's Premier League match against Everton with Wayne Rooney out due to a red-card ban.

Analysis:

Van Gaal didn't flat out say that Mata would start, but he was the only player mentioned as possible replacements for the No. 10 role. Mata lost his spot in the starting XI when van Gaal decided to start Rooney, Robin van Persie and Falcao together, but Mata will get another chance at redemption for at least the next three matches.
