Rodgers: Chelsea-linked Chilwell 'not for sale'
Brendan Rodgers insists Leicester City won't be cashing in on Ben Chilwell this summer amid continued reports that Chelsea are trying to sign the left-back.
"He's a Leicester player. He's not a player that I'm worried about at all," the manager told Friday's virtual media conference, as quoted by Reuters.
"We've got a fantastic squad, one that we want to keep together. There's no intention for us to sell Chilwell and we don't need to sell Chilwell. He's not for sale."
Chilwell and playmaker James Maddison are both out injured for the Foxes' final two matches of the Premier League campaign - against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United - as they try to secure a Champions League berth. Leicester are only positioned fourth ahead of United courtesy of a marginally better goal difference.
Chilwell has been key to the Foxes' upfield forays from the left side of defense, with only Maddison and Youri Tielemans posting more key passes than the Englishman this season. Right-back Ricardo Pereira and Chilwell have also logged the most completed dribbles for Rodgers' side with 60 and 51, respectively.
A report in early June indicated Chelsea had opened talks with Chilwell over a possible switch. Leicester apparently want no less than £40 million for the 23-year-old.
