Report: Everton fails to land Marco Silva after 2nd offer worth £10M
Everton has once again been scuppered in its pursuit of Watford manager Marco Silva. The Telegraph's Jason Burt and Matt Law report Everton has seen a £10-million offer rejected by Watford, who insist Silva will not be allowed to leave Vicarage Road at any price.
Everton's offer - which the Telegraph reports includes a £3.5-million per year salary for Silva - is the second approach the club has made to Watford as it pursues a replacement for recently-sacked manager Ronald Koeman. The first offer, submitted Monday, was also priced at £10 million. Everton tried to enter negotiations again on Wednesday without improving the deal.
Silva has two years left on his contract with Watford, and should Everton continue to pursue the issue, the Telegraph reports it is "highly likely" Watford would issue a complaint to the Premier League.
The Telegraph adds that other options included Sam Allardyce - who has since been eliminated from contention - as well as Burnley's Sean Dyche, and current interim boss David Unsworth.
