Report: Chelsea moves for Morata after losing out on Lukaku
Chelsea may have been denied a reunion with Romelu Lukaku, but that won't stop the club from trying to sign a big-name striker in the summer. The Blues have made a move to sign Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata, with the Spain international keen on joining, according to a report from Sky Sports.
The London side apparently turned its attention to the former Juventus striker after losing the race for Lukaku's signature to Manchester United. The Red Devils were also previously interested in signing Morata, making this current development something of a striker swap for the two English outfits.
Chelsea may have to dish out around £70 million to sign Morata to reach Real Madrid's valuation of the 24-year-old. Current Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane won't part with his player easily, as he reportedly wants to keep Morata at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The move could coincide with Chelsea's other dealings in Madrid - the club is reportedly set to offload wantaway Diego Costa to Atletico Madrid, too.
