Bayern Munich reached a verbal agreement with Juventus on Sunday to sign defender Matthijs de Ligt for a €70-million fee plus another €10 million in add-ons, reports The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano.

The German club reportedly agreed to a five-year contract with De Ligt that will keep the Dutch center-back in Munich until 2027.

Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn claimed Saturday that De Ligt was eager to join after club officials opened talks with the 22-year-old earlier this month.

De Ligt was in the third year of a five-year contract he signed in 2019 to join the Bianconeri from Ajax for €75 million. He appeared in 31 Serie A games last season.

His arrival will help fill the void in Bayern's defense that was left by Niklas Sule's departure to Borussia Dortmund this summer.

News of the agreement comes a day after Bayern Munich confirmed Robert Lewandowski's transfer to Barcelona. The Bundesliga side also announced an extension for Serge Gnabry on Saturday.
