Milos Raonic defeated No. 4 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-6 (5), 6-3 on Friday to reach the Western & Southern Open final.
He will face top-ranked Novak Djokovic, who overcame No. 8 seed Roberto Bautista Agut 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (0) in three hours.
Raonic, who's been ravaged by injuries in recent years, hadn't made a final of an ATP Tour event since June 2018.
His wait for a title has been even longer. The last of the 29-year-old's eight career titles came in January 2017 in Brisbane, Australia.
With the win over Tsitsipas, Raonic is guaranteed a place in the top 20 of the next ATP rankings. He's currently ranked 30th in the world.
Raonic fired 12 aces and won a key tiebreaker in the first set to dispatch the sixth-ranked Tsitsipas in New York.
The tournament - the first on the men's tour since the pandemic began in March - is being held in Flushing Meadows to limit travel ahead of next week's US Open at the same location.
