Bianca Andreescu has gained many fans during her rapid rise up the women's tennis rankings this season, but Angelique Kerber doesn't seem to be one of them.

After Andreescu defeated the three-time Grand Slam champ at the Miami Open, Kerber called the 18-year-old Canadian the "biggest drama queen ever" as they shook hands post-match.

But Andreescu, who defeated Kerber in the Indian Wells final in March for her first career WTA title, isn't putting much stock in her opponent's comments.

"I didn't hear that but I did hear her say something and I'm sure it wasn't very nice," she told the CBC's Adrienne Arsenault. "But it was in the heat of the moment. It was 2 a.m. She lost to me last week (at Indian Wells). She (just) lost to me in Miami.

"I know every time we step on the court it's going to be a hard battle but I'm just trying to take the high road here and just not fight back or say anything about that."

Opening the year ranked No. 178 in singles play, Andreescu has since shot up to No. 23 on a string of strong results. She made the finals at the Auckland Open and reached the Mexican Open semifinals before besting Kerber for the prestigious Indian Wells title.

Andreescu is 31-4 on the year and has wins over former world No. 1s Caroline Wozniacki, Venus Williams, and Kerber.
