The NCAA is unlikely to grant another year of eligibility to student-athletes who participate in winter sports and had their seasons and tournaments cut short due to the coronavirus outbreak, reports Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
Spring student-athletes are still in line to receive an extra year, Rothstein notes. The NCAA announced Friday that its council coordination committee has determined those who play spring sports deserve an extra year of eligibility.
Most winter sports, such as basketball, had completed their regular seasons and were in the midst of conference tournaments when the NCAA announced the cancellation of all games in response to the ongoing pandemic.
