Yaya Toure is returning to the Greek capital.

A dozen years after blossoming in one season at Olympiacos, the Ivorian midfielder will again play his football in Athens after the record 44-time Greek league winner announced a move for the 35-year-old on Sunday.

With Olympiacos, Toure was a key part of the club's 2005-06 domestic double with a trio of goals in 20 league appearances before moving to Monaco that summer.

Toure, who spent the last eight seasons with Manchester City, joins Olympiacos on a free transfer after his terms with the defending Premier League champs lapsed in the summer. With City, the 101-time capped international won three league titles to go with a treble of domestic cups. Four times voted the African Footballer of the Year, Toure was named Manchester City Player of the Year in 2013-14 and was twice selected for the PFA Team of the Year.
