Inter director Beppe Marotta confirmed Sunday that reported Arsenal target Ivan Perisic has requested a transfer.

"Perisic has asked to leave but there is no offer for him. We will see in the coming days," Marotta told Sky Sport's Fabrizio Romano. "We will listen to the request of Perisic, he has put in a transfer request; we must try to satisfy him but also respect the value of him."

Despite Marotta's assertion, Romano reports Arsenal have submitted a €4-million loan offer featuring a €40-million club purchase option for the 29-year-old World Cup finalist. He adds that Inter rejected the offer because the side are only interested in a move involving a permanent buy.

Rumors of Arsenal's desire to recruit Perisic - who was linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer - surfaced Saturday when BBC Sport's David Ornstein reported the Gunners hierarchy fancies a short-term switch that includes a permanent option.

A loan deal would be consistent with Arsenal manager Unai Emery's admission earlier in the transfer window that the club are limited to interim moves.
