Sevilla is in line to complete the signing of Luis Muriel for a club-record fee after reaching an agreement with Sampdoria.

The two sides struck a deal worth €20 million plus bonuses, according to Sky Sport Italia's Fabrizio Romano, with Sampdoria retaining 20 percent of any future transfer fee.

The Colombian international must first pass a medical before putting pen to paper on a five-year contract.

Should the reported figure hold true, it would make Muriel the Andalusian club's most expensive acquisition, ahead of last summer's capture of Franco Vazquez.

A dynamic dribbler who can take on defenders and strike quickly on the counter-attack, the 26-year-old has yet to realise his full potential.

He scored 11 goals in 31 Serie A appearances last season - the most he has managed in any single domestic campaign.

Sampdoria signed Muriel from Udinese in 2014, and he arrived with the talent but not necessarily the consistency to become a top-tier threat.

Muriel is Sevilla's third major signing of the summer transfer window after the arrivals of Ever Banega from Inter and Jordan Amavi from Aston Villa.
