AC Milan offered 18-year-old Gianluigi Donnarumma a new contract worth around €4.5 million a season during a summit in Monaco on Thursday with the prodigious goalkeeper and super agent Mino Raiola, according to Sky Sport's Gianluca Di Marzio.

Milan's proposal is an improvement on the club's first offer to Donnarumma - believed to be worth €3.5 million per year - Di Marzio added.

Raiola also requested a release clause in his client's contract during the talks.

An answer is expected in the coming days.

Donnarumma has emerged as one of the hottest properties on the transfer market. With a contract that expires in June 2018, he is considered a priority by Milan's new hierarchy.

Manchester United, Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus, and several others have interest in the spectacular shot-stopper, Raiola boasted in a recent interview.

However, City's acquisition of Ederson from Benfica should remove Pep Guardiola's side from potential negotiations.

All the while, Milan's sporting director, Massimiliano Mirabelli, and CEO Marco Fassone have worked hard to sign players for the upcoming campaign. Centre-back Mateo Musacchio arrived from Villarreal this week, manager Vincenzo Montella re-committed to the club until 2019, and Atalanta midfielder Franck Kessie underwent medicals at Casa Milan over the past couple of days.

Milan also reportedly agreed to terms with Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata.

But supporters regard Donnarumma as the main piece in the club's rebuilding project. He kept Milan competitive over the past season, ranking second in Serie A with 143 saves.
