Sassuolo has win against Pescara overturned for using ineligible player
Milan - Serie A newcomer Pescara earned its first win of the fledgling season on Tuesday but only after weekend opponent Sassuolo fielded an ineligible player, league bosses announced.
Sassuolo, set to embark on its maiden Europa League campaign this season, won Sunday's home fixture 2-1.
But Serie A officials on Tuesday revealed infringements relating to the registration of midfielder Antonino Ragusa, who made his debut for Sassuolo in a second half substitute's appearance at the Mapei Stadium.
As a result, Pescara has been handed a 3-0 victory that moves the Delfini up to seventh place in the table.
Sassuolo will appeal the decision.
A statement from league bosses said Sassuolo "used the player Antonino Ragusa from the 65th minute of the match..." but "... have forfeited the match because the club did not include player on their 25-man squad list before midday the day preceding the fixture."
