Gerry McIlroy was a confident father when he made a bet 10 years ago that his son Rory would win the British Open by the time he was 25 years old.
The £400 bet was placed, and Gerry was given 500-1 odds.
Gerry's three friends placed £400 on the line, and Rory is in contention to make good on that bet, as he's up six shots heading into Sunday's final round.
Ok - apparently I have to say it again - the bet still stands for this year. Checked with the man leading the Open.
