Scheffler, Matsuyama among players to qualify for Presidents Cup
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Hideki Matsuyama - the latter of whom withdrew from this week's BMW Championship due to back pain - are among the first 12 players on the rosters for the upcoming Presidents Cup.
The top six for both the United States (FedExCup points) and the International team (Official World Golf Ranking) automatically qualify for the September event in Montreal. U.S. captain Jim Furyk and his International counterpart, Mike Weir, will choose the remaining six players for their respective squads.
Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Wyndham Clark, Collin Morikawa, Patrick Cantlay, and Sahith Theegala will make up the first half of the American side.
Matsuyama, Tom Kim, Sungjae Im, Adam Scott, Jason Day, and Byeong Hun An earned automatic berths for the International team.
The Presidents Cup will take place Sept. 24-29 at The Royal Montreal Golf Club.
