Bradley 'super bummed' to be left off U.S. Ryder Cup team
Keegan Bradley was omitted from the U.S. Ryder Cup team once again after he wasn't included in Zach Johnson's six captain's picks.
"I could tell by the response from Zach when I answered the phone that I wasn't on the team. ... I'm super bummed out," Bradley told Golf Channel's Todd Lewis.
Bradley, the World No. 18, is coming off a stellar 2022-23 campaign that saw him win the ZOZO Championship in October and the Travelers Championship in June. He was also the runner-up at the Farmers Insurance Open in January and is coming off a T9 finish at the TOUR Championship this past week.
"I thought I put together a really good year with two wins, including in Hartford over an elite field," he said. "I'm proud of what I've done."
Justin Thomas earned one of Johnson's captain's picks despite an uncharacteristically poor season in which he missed the cut at three of the four majors and failed to qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
Bradley says he believes not being in the inner circle of the top U.S. golfers is part of the reason he wasn't picked for the team.
"I've always been an outsider in the sport, but I have tried to get closer to the guys I thought would be on the team," Bradley said, adding, "I feel like moving forward, I'm going to have to automatically qualify for the Ryder Cup."
Bradley has made two Ryder Cup appearances in his career - qualifying in 2012 and making the roster as one of Tom Watson's captain's picks in 2014.
The 2023 Ryder Cup begins on Sept. 29 in Italy. The U.S. hasn't won the event on European soil since 1993.
