One of the most shocking developments is that it appears most TOUR players found out via social media.
And everyone thought yesterday was the longest day in golf

Nothing like finding out through Twitter that we’re merging with a tour that we said we’d never do that with.

I’m guessing the liv teams were struggling to get sponsors and pga tour couldn’t turn down the money. Win-win for both tours
— Byeong Hun An (@ByeongHunAn) June 6, 2023
but it’s a big lose for who defended the tour for last two years
PGA Tour didn’t communicate this to players at all. They found out same time we did.
— Dan Rapaport (@Daniel_Rapaport) June 6, 2023
“Shocked and confused.”
“Disgusted. They didn’t tell us anything.”
Other TOUR players are having some fun with the announcement.
I’ve grown up being a fan of the 4 Aces. Maybe one day I get to play for them on the PGA Tour!

Alright guys. How much to live stream the player meeting at 4 today??? (I’m KIDDING)…. But seriously….

Several reporters added more insight and context to the surprising merger.
I'm sure Rory is pleased with the Tour rolling him out week after week to fight its battle so that, in the end, Phil, Brooks, Bryson and DJ could walk away with $500M and reunification with the league he defended.

And, of course, the internet didn't disappoint with memes and witty comments.
In just a few short weeks, Michael Block brought the game together.

Does this mean PGA Tour members can wear short now?
