Daniel Berger has withdrawn from this week's Pebble Beach Pro-Am due to a back injury.

The 28-year-old is the tournament's reigning champion, as he beat Maverick McNealy by two strokes in 2021. It was also his last PGA TOUR victory.

Berger, the World No. 16, was the second-ranked player in the event behind Patrick Cantlay.

Kevin Stadler will replace Berger in the field.

Will Zalatoris also withdrew from the tournament Tuesday due to a positive COVID-19 test.
